Flourless Chocolate Avocado Brownies

Updated: May 5, 2021

Let me just start by saying that these brownies are so fudgy and chewy and delicious that you wouldn't know there wasn't any flour in them. And the healthy fat you get from the avocado is a plus! There are only a few (healthy) ingredients and they're super easy to make!

Here's how to make them:

  • 1 ripe avocado (about 1/2 cup mashed)

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)

  • 1/4 cup almond butter (or any creamy nut butter)

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • 1 TSP baking powder

  • 1 TSP vanilla extract

  • 1/4 TSP fine sea salt

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (any flavor will do, or you can combine and do half and half! You can use sugar-free too!)

  1. Preheat your oven to 325° F and grease a 8 or 9-inch square baking dish and line it with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mash the avocado with a masher or fork until smooth (you can also use a food processor).

  3. Add the cocoa powder, eggs, coconut sugar, almond butter, baking powder, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth with a spatula or in your food processor.

  4. Fold in the walnuts and pour the batter into the prepared pan.

  5. Top the batter with the chocolate chips.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the center of the brownies are cooked (use a toothpick).

  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then, using the parchment paper, carefully lift the brownies out of the pan and onto a cooling rack.

  8. Once completely cooled, slice the brownies into 9 even pieces and enjoy!

  9. Leftovers can be stored on the counter for up to 48 hours or in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
